ENSURING QUALITY MENTAL HELP TO MILLIONS OF UKRAINIANS

Mission

We strive to ensure that millions of Ukrainians have access to quality psychological care and improve their quality of life anywhere in the world

Vision

Every Ukrainian can objectively assess their mental state and, if necessary, receive psychological assistance in accordance with international quality standards

The problem

Around the world, mental health gains growing attention from governments, service providers, and users, as the importance of mental wellbeing cannot be overstated. At the same time, people in many countries still have problems accessing mental health care.

In Ukraine, mental health has been a neglected field for a long time, lacking sufficient attention from the state. The full-scale Russian war has only exacerbated the issue: despite the reduction of stigma, the system of psychological support was not ready for the large influx of people in need of help.

And it's only getting worse — according to the Minister of Health of Ukraine, about 15 million people in Ukraine will need psychological assistance, of which 3 million will need medical treatment.

The problem

Currently, there is lack of tools for quality preliminary assessment of mental condition that are widely accessible. That means that people in need cannot assess their condition and receive relevant recommendations, while mental care specialists require more time and efforts to pre-diagnose the client. This causes overwhelming burden on the system and limited access to quality services.

According to WHO, to fill in this gap, we must 'find innovative ways to diversify and scale up care for these conditions, for example through non-specialist psychological counselling or digital self-help' .

Our Solution

We are developing a system that includes a full cycle of psychological assistance from diagnostics to low-intensity interventions, psychoeducation and sessions with a psychotherapist

Our project will allow people from all over Ukraine and temporary refugees from abroad to undergo an objective assessment of their mental state and, if necessary, receive high-quality psychotherapeutic assistance.

We are developing a single questionnaire that adapts depending on the answers provided and allows for an initial assessment of the condition according to the DSM- 5 and ICD-10/11 classifications.

Based on this, users are assigned to automated interventions, psychoeducation, and psychotherapists depending on their level of mental functioning and a preliminary treatment plan is created for the psychotherapist.

This saves financial costs for diagnosis and selection of low-intensity interventions and psychoeducation, which in turn reduces the burden on mental health services.

How it works

The client assessment process consists of three main stages:
1

Risk assessment (screening) is designed to assess the risk level of the individual's condition.

2

Diagnostics for disorders and determination of the severity of the individual's condition.

3

Detailed assessment with personalized questionnaires to suggest an individual's treatment plan.

Benefits

Ability to Scale

Automation and adaptivity will allow a larger amount of individuals from different social groups and locations to have access to affordable and effective therapy

Evidence-Based Approach

Symptomatic diagnosis will be based on the DSM-5 and ICD-10/11 classifiers, and psychodiagnostic methods will be socially and culturally adapted to Ukrainians, taking into account psychometric properties to improve diagnostic accuracy.

Scientific Approach

We use only evidence-based protocols recognized by NICE and APA and trauma-focused "first choice" approaches

Transparency, Efficiency and Accountability

Thanks to automation, we can obtain data on the impact of psychotherapeutic interventions, which will help assess the relationship between investment and mental well-being of Ukrainians, while partial automation of diagnostics will help optimize costs.
